Solution for Multi-Domain IO Planning Delivers Unified Data
Model for Real-time Evaluation
OrbitIO Planner Dynamic IO Planning Solution for ICs,
Packages and Printed Circuit Boards Reduces Iterations and
Minimizes Package Complexity
SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 21,
2007 — Sigrity, Inc., a market leader in signal and
power integrity solutions for ICs, packages, and
printed circuit boards, today unveiled OrbitIO Planner
-- a breakthrough solution enabling dynamic IO planning
across the multiple domains of IC, packages, and printed
circuit boards. This unique solution is the first
single tool to provide both a full physical view of all
the interconnect domains that comprise a system, and
offer the ability to explore and optimize the IO
interfaces across these domains. Thus, it fulfills the
critical need for IO optimization as companies
increasingly struggle with time and cost issues as a
result of poor IO and package planning.
OrbitIO Planner addresses the
discontinuities that exist in today's design flows by
providing a 'big-picture' system view early enough in the
design cycle that meaningful changes can be evaluated easily
and propagated among domains. The foundation for this
capability is a unified data model that merges all of the
IC, packages, and PCB data into a single data representation
using their native formats. This single data model
facilitates real-time evaluation, and what-if exploration of
IO assignment and connectivity options. Once the optimized
IO plan has been established, the data is pushed back to the
originating sources in their native formats.
"The traditional approach to IO
planning using spreadsheets and snapshots of static data no
longer is viable." said Dr. Jiayuan Fang, president of
Sigrity, "as more and more companies face product delays,
cost issues, and overly complex designs as a result of poor
planning. Package awareness in IC tools is a step in the
right direction, but it's limited by the tools' single-die
orientation and an inability to plan for multi-die
applications such as system-in-package (SiP) or
package-on-package (POO). We're pleased that early customers
are taking an IO-centric approach to design planning by
implementing OrbitIO Planner as teh first step in their
physical design planning process.
OrbitIO Planner introduces several
unique data management and display concepts that help
control the amount and variety of data necessary for IO
planning. For example, hierarchy and relationships, an
inherent concept throughout the product, provides the
necessary context for devices relative to their neighbors.
Another key aspect is the ability to manage syntactical
differences syntactical differences in net names among
domains, including scenarios of one-to-many, or many-to-one
net mapping. OrbitIO Planner adds the concepts of opacity
and gradients to the traditional use of colors and patterns,
to denote devices and layer data. The result is a clear,
concise view of the entire system with the ability to see
through devices.
OrbitIO Planner can be applied to a
wide variety of package configuration including stacked
applications for SiP and POP. It also supports wirebond,
flip-chip, surface mount and mixed-die-attachment methods.
OrbitIO Planner is compatible with IC design flows from
Cadence, Magma, and Synopsys, using standard formats such as
LEF/DEF and Open Access, and it supports package and PCB
data for most popular systems.
Pricing and
Availability
OrbitIO Planner is already in use by
early adoption customers; its general release is scheduled
for Q3 of 2007 with pricing starting at $58,000 USD for a
one-year license. OrbitIO Planner will be supported on
Windows and Linux platforms.
